Online file editing
by rbocchinfuso on Mar.31, 2010, under Development, Web
I do a fair amount of web development and when I am working on a sizeable php or perl script sometimes I prefer to use an editor other than vi, although more often than not I ssh to my web hosting provider and just use vi. I am a huge fan of Notepad++ but I find the ftp plugin to be not very robust which can make online file editing a bit of a pain.
I could and have used a ftp client to get the file, edit with Notepad++ then put the file back on the server but this seems like too many steps.
I am now using PSPad to do all my online editing, ftp client is integrated into the editor and works flawlessly. Check it out if you are a Notpad++ fan but feel the same way that I do about online editing PSPad may be the solution.
Windows and WebDAV
by rbocchinfuso on Mar.29, 2010, under Web, Windows
Everyone knows that the native Windows WebDAV support is not very good. I am using an app called DataFreeway by LukaSoft, seems to work pretty well, I primarily use it to access my KnowledgeTree document management system via WebDAV. Check it out if you have been frustrated by native Windows WebDAV support.
Digging Finetune…
by rbocchinfuso on Dec.16, 2008, under Platform Independent, Web
I have been a long time user of Pandora because of its simplicity. I never really got into Last.fm mostly because I don’t really have time to social bookmark music. I really like newcomer Finetune, it appears as if they fall somewhere between Pandora and Last.fm, the Finetune Adobe Air desktop client is also nicely done.

I have been using Jinzora, previously know as Netjuke for years and I love it. For anyone one with a large mp3 collection this is the app for you.

Get rid of the annoying left hand tab toolbar on your Google homepage
by rbocchinfuso on Dec.13, 2008, under Web
If you are like me you probably hate the fact that Google moved the tabs on your iGoogle page from the top to a left hand sidebar which serves little to no purpose other than to consume precious screen real estate. I found a Greasemonkey script which disables the annoying sidebar.
- This applies to Firefox only. If you use an alternative browser like IE, Opera, etc… you can usually make Greasemonkey scripts work but I am not providing a tutorial here.
- Download the Greasemonkey add-on Firefox
- I recommend downloading the Greasefire add-on as well
